Wanderboat’s UX: Beyond User Expectations

As the only designer (UX and branding), I developed a design language focused on seamless interaction between users and AI.

The data results show that all the efforts have paid off: Wanderboat's monthly active users (MAU) grew from 0 to 2M within 10 months of launched, reaching nearly 3M after one year, and is now at 4M. The average user session duration has exceeded 13 minutes.

Designs on LLM Multimodal

2023, while everyone else was focusing on designing chat interfaces, Wanderboat had already implemented an LLM-powered multimodal UX design. Its sophisticated, AI-driven multimodal content—integrating maps, richtext, videos, and image gallery—has garnered a large number of core users.

• Personification Component

In the endeavor to bridge user experience with AI models, I employ personification design strategies to facilitate user comprehension of the diverse capabilities inherent in AI training models. This approach enables users to interact with different models within the product, thereby facilitating AI-assisted content generation.

• Human-AI Conversation Content

Utilizing rich text chat dialogues and a novel AI interpretation component, known as the Magic Panel, I have streamlined the completion of complex chat topics. This includes tasks such as time range selection, multiple location designation, and intensity assessment. Moreover, this approach infuses the content with a more humanistic essence, seamlessly integrating within an enhanced CUI session format, while responsive design ensures universal functionality across all devices.

• Generative Content Components

Built upon the principles of reusability, composability, and scalability, with atomic components as the foundation, our content modules offer a premium user experience. These modules can encompass interactive graphics, brief videos, rich text, geographical and temporal information, and other dynamically generated content based on AI in real-time, enhancing user interaction with the system for generating, browsing, editing, and sharing content.
